More Amnesia!

I'd like to mention this stellar FPS Horror game again, and highly recommend it. Steam currently has it on sale for half off, so GET IT! This is one of the most entertaining (and frightening) games I have ever played, if not the most. It is unmatched as a constipation aid.

I CHALLENGE you to try it!

Web Voips!

I'm trying to decide on the best internet VOIP program, and am comparing those that I use the most often.

Ventrilo:

My classic VOIP, it is very reliable, and priced similarly to Teamspeak for a server (Both are free to download). However the sound quality is nowhere near as good as TS, and hasnt been updated in many moons.

Teamspeak

Recently updated to "3", this new VOIP brings forward tons of new features, and improved quality. The new security features are also worth looking at, and I appreciate the greater number of ranks possible for registered users.

Skype

I have very little experience with this very popular program, as I have only ever used it for video chat, and watching friends scream like girls to Amnesia: The Dark Descent. But from what I have seen, it features decent quality, with simple interface. My only complaint is the constant nagging to purchase their extra calling features.

All in all, for simplicty, I recommend Ventrilo, but for quality and features, I would go for Teamspeak.

Free Anti-Virus's

I feel like a little information would be helpful to some of you, heres my opinions on the top free anti-virus's.

1. Avast Anti-Virus

An extremely comprehensive program, yet takes quite a bit of resources. There are many features in this program, that make up for its extensive resource hoggishness, including it's web browser protection, integrated firewall, email protection, and ease of use. The interface is gorgeous, and easy for all levels of computer users. It even includes a "gaming-silent" mode, that I rarely use, that shuts off notifications and sounds that might interrupt your experience. It is free, but requires registration. Also, it is important to note that it updates daily, automatically, without bothering you.

2. AVG Free

An extremely popular program, AVG is simple, and effective. It has everything the average user requires, with a no-frills approach. I would suggest this for all, it is low-maintenance, and quite simple. As looks go, it looks as it is, simple. No registration, and great coverage, with no extra capabilities. My only complaint is spread out updates.

3. Avira

I tried this program for a few months, and have little to add to it, being that it is almost exactly like AVG. Great coverage, simple, and effective, with no extra abilities. Perfect for the average user. My only complaint was the annoying update pop-ups on every startup. But it updates far more often than AVG, but not as often as Avast.

4. Norton

I threw this in here for teh lulz. This is the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen, and people actually pay for it. It's a resource hog that pushes itself into every aspect of computing. Rid yourself of it, purge the evil! BURN IT AWAY!

In summation, for the average user, get AVG. If you want more ability and protection, get Avast, at the cost of a bit more protection.

Teh1337sp||eekWarBand@@$%%#1337!

I had planned on posting an intelligent commentary to the recent Chris Lee photo fiasco (Suck it you craigslist whoring twit), but I've been sidetracked by another problem that has been the raging migrane pulsating against my gaming urges for several years now.

It seems since the cultural "mainstreaming" of high profile blockbuster video games, we as a group have attracted the least desirable of all social groups, the youngins that comprise 99.9999999% of most action games on Xbox 360. Thankfully I myself do not own one, but whenever I confront the clawing masses online with buds, I can't contain my rage and urges to drive to these squeakers houses and pummel them and their mothers. It seems that anyone between the age of 11 and 14 has a social addiction to anything that has the word halocallofdutygunsgoreviolenceetc in it.

To get the the point of the matter, as much as I can put up with their infuriating game tactics, total disregard for teamwork, 'nails on chalkboard' style voices, and maddening playstyle, the one penny that tips the entire load, is the names. You can instantly guess the age group of any person under this category within 5 years, just by the amount of special characters in their name. Tell me I'm wrong! But how many of these idiots do I have to play with before pouring acid into every possible orfice to escape the pain!

Tape Looping!

One of my latest endeavors has been to re-create the "tape loop" track that was created for the song Money by Pink Floyd. After endless scouring of the internet to find a simple audio track of just this loop of cash registers, I found about ten billion phone ringtones and some cheap pron that was about as fulfilling as eating your own snot. Disallusioned, I decided to splice the track myself, and have since been searching for a way to separate the "instruments" of the song from the intro cash register reel that Roger Waters created, and keep that as an MP3 for the intro to our performance. Thanks to a friend (thanks Tom), we are making a little progress, but need ideas as to get the cleanest sound possible. If anyone has any ideas as to how we can do this (we are using the freeware Audacity by the way, http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) please comment with suggestions.

As for background, I have set up a group to perform for a talent show, hopefully performing Money, and the far easier "Us and Them". I include their names simply to give them the attention they deserve for putting up with my dictatorial tendancys, and they deserve mention for their efforts.
The group:
Vocals - Sean
Lead Guitar - Travis
Rhythm Guitar - Myself
Percussion - Eric
Bass Guitar - Frank
Keys/Synth - Ruthie
Alto Sax - Sean as well
Tenor Sax (including the Dick Parry Solo) - Rachel

Thanks to you all, and I hope I can get video of the performance to share with all you awesome viewers.
Good night, and have a wonderful week!

I like Monkeys!

The funniest story I have read in a looong time. It takes a dry sense of humor to appreciate.
I Like Monkeys

The pet store was selling them for five cents a piece.
I thought this was odd since they were normally a couple thousand.
I decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth so I bought 200 of them.
I like monkeys.
I took my 200 monkeys home. I have a big car. I let one of drive. His name was Sigmund. He was retarded. In fact, none of them were really bright. They kept punching themselves in the genitals. I laughed. They punched me in the genitals. I stopped laughing.
I herded them into my room. They didn't adapt very well to their new environment. They would screech and hurl themselves off the couch at high speeds and slam into the wall. Although humorous at first, the spectacle lost its novelty halfway into it's third hour.
Two hours later I found out why all the monkeys were so inexpensive; they all died. No apparent reason. They all just sort of dropped dead. Kinda like when you buy a goldfish and it dies five hours later.
Damn cheap monkeys.
I didn't know what to do. There were 200 dead monkeys lying all over my room; on the bed, in the dresser, hanging from my bookcase. It looked like I had 200 throw rugs.
I tried to flush one down the toilet. It didn't work. It got stuck. Then I had one dead, wet monkey and one hundred ninety-nine dead, dry monkeys.
I tried to pretend that they were just stuffed animals. That worked for awhile, that is until they began to decompose. It started to smell real bad. I had to pee but there was a dead monkey in my toilet and I didn't want to call a plumber. I was embarrassed.
I tried to slow down the decomposition by freezing them. Unfortuntely there was only enough room for two at a time, so I had to change them every 30 seconds. I also had to eat all the food in the freezer so it didn't go bad.
I tried to burn them, but little did I know that my bed was flammable. I had to extinguish the fire. Then I had one dead, wet monkey in my toilet, two dead, frozen monkeys in my freezer, and one hundred ninety-seven dead, charred monkeys in a pile on my bed,
The odor wasn't improving.
I became agitated at my inability to dispose of the dead monkeys and I really had to use the bathroom. So I went and severely beat one of the monkeys. I felt better.
I tried throwing them away but the garbage man said the city was not allowed to dispose of charred primates. I told him I had a wet one. He couldn't take it either. I didn't bother asking about the frozen ones.
I finally arrived at a solution. I gave them out as Christmas gifts. My friends didn't quite know what to say. They pretended to like them, but I could tell they were lying. Ingrates. So I punched them in the genitals.
I like monkeys.

Twilight: Modern Warfare 2

Personally, I hate the Twilight series, not even because Meyer's a crappy author (which she is), or because the acting is godawful (which it is), but because of the fangirl obsession. That is, until I found this video from XPlay (G4 TV).
Watch and enjoy people!

Personally, I would prefer to watch something like that involved Price beating the crap out of Cullen. But ah well. Maybe another day.

Roger Waters Live: The Wall

Friend of mine compiled video from several of the live concerts of the past year, with spliced audio. Did an incredible job, with awesome quality. If anyone wants a link for a DL, send me a message. He refuses to charge for it, so all you that enjoyed the show live and want to re-live it, just ask. Or those that didn't get to see the amazing show, watch it now. It's awesome.

Heres some youtube videos from the show:

A facebook game saves a mans life?

Apparently a disabled man playing "Evony" on facebook, was saved from a house fire by chatting ingame that he needed help.

Original Article:

Say what you will about Evony. Decry its cleavage-heavy, ubquitous online advertising campaign. Call its gameplay derivative and weak. Whatever. The game may have saved a man's life.
Robert “Bob” Chambers was chilling at his home in Spokane, WA, playing some Evony on FaceBook, when smoke filled the room. A toaster was on fire. Because Chambers is disabled with muscular dystropy, he couldn't throw a towel over the appliance, nor call for help. So he turned to Evony.

“Help me,” he recalled typing on an Evony message board, using his specialized computer mouse and on-screen keyboard. “My house is on fire and I can’t get out.”
He gave out his address, and players in Indiana and Texas called the fire department. Heroic Spokane firefighters soon carried him to safety.
“I hated this game because he doesn’t pay attention to me or anything else in the house,” The man's wife told The Spokesman-Review. “Now I’ve got to bite my tongue because it saved his life quite possibly.”
Okay, you could argue that a stuck piece of toast probably wouldn't have actually filled the house with enough smoke to kill anyone, but shhhhhh. Who knows what would have happened if it hadn't been for the wonder of Evony and Facebook? Plus, how awesome is it that technology has opened the world to people who, in ages past would have been shut out from most forms of communication?

Half of me applauds the use of technology, the other half is disgusted at what we've become.
Seriously people.

Neptunes Pride

Wanted to share my favorite FREE game, that is on the web.
Neptunes pride is awesome. Long term rounds, it's not turn based, and it's so rewarding.

Here is the official description:
"The object of a game of Neptune's Pride is to capture half of all Stars in the Galaxy.

The game is real-time but played over several weeks. You can log in at any time of the day to check the progress of your fleets, view the results of battles, and issue new orders.

Each Star you control will automatically build new ships, raise money for upgrades, and research new technologies.

Your job is to negotiate with the other players, dispatch your fleets to capture new stars, and choose where and how to upgrade your existing stars and technology.

Neptune's Pride is not like any other 4x strategy game because its streamlined mechanics allow players to focus on high level strategic decisions and diplomacy. "
